SOR will install “as standard” its TPMS system, which complies with R141, embedded in the EBS
Maintaining the correct tire pressure ensures safer driving. But also, and very importantly, it turns the vehicle into a more efficient and profitable machine since it prolongs the useful life of the tires, reduces fuel consumption and, if necessary, the downtime of the reefer.
For this reason, Europe has agreed and all trailer approvals issued after July 6, 2022 must have the TPMS installed to comply with the R141 regulation. But, in addition, it is mandatory, without distinction, in all registered semi-trailers. starting July 7, 2024.
The requirement for a TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) for commercial trailers and semi-trailers is stipulated in Regulation 2009/661, as part of UNECE R141 (the new UNECE Global Safety Regulation). EU).
One of the important points of this new regulation is the obligation for information regarding tire pressure to reach the tractor unit. The law does not require the system to indicate what position or what type of error occurs, but it does require that the semi-trailer communicate to the tractor unit “a pressure failure.” Therefore, although there are many systems on the market, not all TPMS and TPRS systems meet this essential requirement and, therefore, will not be accepted after July 2024.
The TPMS system chosen by SOR and which will be installed “as standard” in all its semi-trailers from the stipulated date, follows very clear premises: It already complies with regulation 141 with an economical and universal system.
